1-MBA ClassroomLIVE Online Option (restrictions apply*)

A select, limited number of the student cohort in the 1-MBA Program may request  to participate in class online through our unique ClassroomLIVE experience for a majority  of the one year classroom time in Fall and Spring Semesters. This option will only be considered for those students physically far away from Lehigh’s campus who have been granted pre-approval from the 1-MBA Program Director upon acceptance into the program. The integrated web-based learning environment delivers programs in real-time from classrooms on Lehigh’s campus direct to students in their homes. Students interact live with professors and other students during the class as it’s actually taking place on campus. The cohort must meet a minimum number of 1-MBA ClassroomLIVE students to run this format. Accepted students for this option will be notified of this by April 15th.

What is ClassroomLIVE?

ClassroomLIVE is an integrated, web-based learning environment that delivers Lehigh University’s 1-MBA program in real-time from classrooms on Lehigh’s campus to students, in their homes, or while travelling. Students interact with professors and other students during the class as it’s taking place on campus. An example of ClassroomLIVE can be viewed here

Who is eligible to be considered a 1-MBA ClassroomLIVE student?

Applicants who have been admitted to Lehigh University’s 1-MBA program and who are homeowners and whose current residence is greater than 100 miles in radius from the campus of Lehigh University may apply for attending classes via the ClassroomLIVE option. Note there is no guarantee this option will be approved as it is granted to a limited, select number of students in the cohort based on the greatest need. To find out if you are eligible for ClassroomLIVE contact the 1-MBA Program Director, Kevin Ezzell at kje318@lehigh.edu.

If I am a ClassroomLIVE 1-MBA student, do I have the flexibility to attend any classes on campus?

Yes. While most ClassroomLIVE students will attend remotely outside of the mandatory two week summer residency and optional winter residency, students are always welcome to attend the class on campus. An example might be a student who lives in New York City, that comes to campus for a Friday-Sunday to work on a critical team project. The student would be responsible for securing off-campus accommodations outside of the mandatory two week summer residency, but easily could be accommodated into the campus classroom.

Enrollment Cap

Enrollment is limited to a  select, limited number of ClassroomLIVE students per cohort and will range from 10-15 students max. The ClassroomLIVE slots are given on a first come/first serve basis to depositing students who have been pre-approved for the ClassroomLIVE option as full-time, 1-MBA students. Once a student submits a 1-MBA application, please send an email to Kevin Ezzell, 1-MBA Program Director identifying yourself as a 1-MBA ClassroomLIVE applicant to kje318@lehigh.edu and provide specific reasons why you need this status.

Residency Requirement

All 1-MBA ClassroomLIVE students are required to be on Lehigh University’s campus for orientation and the first two weeks of class beginning June 25, 2020 through July 10, 2020. Campus housing has been reserved exclusively for 1-MBA ClassroomLIVE students from June 25, 2020 through July 10, 2020 in Farrington Square. These on campus three and four bedroom apartments feature single bedrooms as well as a living room, kitchen, and dining area. The building is located in close proximity to the Rauch Business Center, bookstore, campus market, and local restaurants. Single room rates begin at $43.25 per person/per night. No structured meal plans are available for the two week 1-MBA on-campus residency. Students will have access to campus dining options that can be purchased on a per meal basis. All students will have some meals purchased for them as part of the orientation process.

Additionally, 1-MBA ClassroomLIVE students are strongly encouraged to return for Winter Term, January 4, 2021 through January 22, 2021. On campus housing is not available for 1-MBA ClassroomLIVE students during Winter Term, however there are a number of hotels and bed & breakfasts that are within a short walk or drive to campus. ClassroomLIVE students are able to return to participate in graduation in May.

What would my daily schedule in 1-MBA look like as a ClassroomLIVE student?

The schedule would be the same as the on campus students, as you are part of the full-time 1-MBA cohort. All courses run on the Eastern Standard Time Zone with varied courses meeting in the morning, early afternoon, and a few courses in the evening. Students should expect to be in class anywhere from 2-6 hours per day for five days per week and would need to coordinate group project meeting times based around the Eastern Standard Time Zone.

How will I interact with the 1-MBA students who are attending at Lehigh University’s campus outside of the classroom for group projects?

A large part of the MBA experience is the ability to interact with your cohort. After you create bonds with your cohort during the on campus summer orientation and the first two weeks of summer courses, you’ll be able to connect with students via a Zoom video conference account. During orientation, the 1-MBA cohort receives training on group communication that includes leveraging technology. Additionally, all students are given Lehigh University Gmail accounts, giving them access to Google Hangouts as another tool to video conference remotely.

What services are available to ClassroomLIVE 1-MBA students?

The services would be exactly the same whether you are a residential 1-MBA student or a ClassroomLIVE 1-MBA student. ClassroomLIVE 1-MBA students would receive a Career Coach, Executive Advisor, and Faculty Advisor. All non-credit Professional Development workshops would be available synchronously through ClassroomLIVE. ClassroomLIVE 1-MBA students have the ability to attend any of the on campus courses outside of the residency requirement, if they choose. 1-MBA students will be sent the weekly Graduate Career Development events list, have access to Handshake (Lehigh’s Job Search app) and Lehigh Connects (online tool to connect students, alumni, and professionals within the Lehigh network). ClassroomLIVE 1-MBA students are welcome to coordinate trips to campus for the annual Fall and Spring Career Fairs.

Can I be employed while enrolled in the 1-MBA program as a ClassroomLIVE student?

You can not. Because this is a full-time, 47 credit program, students are not permitted to work and attend the program at the same time. On campus students are limited to on campus work not totaling more than five hours per week.

Is ClassroomLIVE new to Lehigh University?

No, Lehigh University has been running programs with ClassroomLIVE for years and is considered a leader in synchronous online learning. This technology is used in the College of Business for the part-time FLEX MBA program.  Additionally, Lehigh University uses the technology to offer the following programs: Biological Chemical Engineering, Chemical Energy Engineering, Healthcare Systems Engineering, Management Science and Engineering, Molecular Biology, and Polymer Science and Engineering. For 2019, Lehigh University’s Part-time FLEX MBA was ranked No. 5 for top online MBA programs.
