For students pursuing the MBA without a concentration, the program timeline is 11 months. The program begins orientation in late June and students graduate the following May.
For students pursuing a concentration, they would take additional summer credits (at no additional tuition cost) and graduate in August or 13 months from the start of the program.
For students pursuing an optional internship trailer with or without a concentration, they would graduate in August or 13 months from the start of the program.
The Lehigh 1-MBA, general business (undeclared concentration) is comprised of 47 credits.
The Financial Management, Supply Chain Management and Marketing concentrations are 50 credits.
The STEM designated Business Analytics concentration is comprised of 53 credits.
Find detailed curriculum information on the 1-MBA "Curriculum" webpage.
The 1-MBA program is a very rigorous full-time program, so it is not possible to be employed and pursue the program at the same time.
In the past, 1-MBA students have obtained part-time employment on campus, but those positions are limited to a maximum of 10 hours per week due to the significant load of credits students take in the one year program.
The majority of courses will be offered during the daytime. There may be some opportunity for elective credits in the evening or weekend. Throughout the program, students are typically in class 4-5 days per week.
Lehigh University does not require an internship as part of the program; however, for students interested in pursuing an internship, a summer optional internship is available at the end of the program. You can find more information on the "Internship Trailer" webpage.
Yes, the optional summer internship in the 1-MBA program is open to both domestic and international MBA students. You can find more information on the "Internship Trailer" webpage.
It can depend on each individual MBA student's concentration as well as a number of other factors. Students will need to consult with their academic advisor if they are working to secure an internship. For international students on an F-1 visa who are pursuing a concentration within the MBA program, it is very likely that your MBA program will need to be extended to a December graduation.
Yes. A student who is interested in doing an internship for credit in the 1-MBA program must receive approval from the 1-MBA Program Director and in some cases in coordination with the associated academic department to confirm the rigor of the internship. Please contact us at business@lehigh.edu for information.
No. Lehigh University will support you in your pursuit of an internship with our three person mentoring team, career services and ongoing professional development available to students, however the onus is on the student to secure the internship.
For a student pursuing the 1-MBA with no concentration, the program begins in Summer II session and finishes the following May or in 11 months.
For a domestic or international student pursuing the 1-MBA (no concentration) with an internship, the program begins in Summer II and finishes the following Summer II session or in 13 months.
For a domestic or international student pursuing a Marketing or Financial Management concentration, it may be possible to still complete in the following Summer II session or in 13 months.
For the Business Analytics (STEM) and Supply Chain Management Concentrations (STEM) domestic students doing an internship may be able to finish in the following Summer II session, however F-1 students will need to extend their graduation to December.
Students interested in a 1-MBA internship will need to work closely with their academic advisor as there are multiple factors that can influence graduation timelines.

Performance on the GMAT is a good indicator of success in the program. While we do not have a minimum GMAT score, we look for strong quantitative ability as evidenced in the mathematical portion of the GMAT or through other means if applicants are pursuing our GMAT/GRE optional approach, such as strong quantitative undergraduate or professional background. A GMAT score of 600 or above with strong quantitative scores is a strong estimate of cohort averages over the last two cohorts.
The GMAT or GRE test score submission is Optional for 1-MBA applicants. Applicants who choose not to submit a GMAT or GRE test score should provide us with evidence in their application that they can be successful in the 1-MBA program without a GMAT score. Applications will be reviewed by the admissions committee, but this is no guarantee of acceptance.
Please see a list of examples below that would be considered as evidence of the ability to be successful in the program without a GMAT or GRE exam:
- A strong undergraduate and/or graduate record, including performance in analytical coursework, no less than 3 courses
- CPA, CFA designation or other professional certification with an analytical emphasis
- Master’s or advanced degree in an analytical discipline
- Three or more years of progressive, professional work experience in an analytical position
While not submitting a GMAT or GRE will not exclude you from consideration of full tuition scholarships, it is strongly encouraged to submit a GMAT or GRE test, if you are seeking this level of scholarship. Additional information can be found on the 1-MBA Admissions page under GMAT/GRE Test Score (optional) drop down.
The program is designed that there are no prerequisites for entering 1-MBA.
For non-business undergraduate majors, Lehigh University offers leveling training sessions in areas such as: Accounting, Finance, Economics, and Statistics to serve as a preparatory training prior to students taking these courses.
A virtual interview with a member of our admissions committee may be required. After you have submitted all required application materials, you will be notified via email if a virtual interview is requested of you.
