On average, it takes a student about 3.5 years to complete this part-time MBA program. A student can choose to go at a faster or slower pace depending on their work or personal schedule.
The Lehigh FLEX MBA is comprised of 36 credits.
You may view our admission requirements on the Lehigh FLEX MBA admissions page.
FLEX MBA students attend classes together regardless of the pace you are on. There is a mix of evening, daytime, and weekend classes available, with classes primarily in the evening. Students may mix and match on campus, online, and ClassroomLIVE courses to achieve the degree.
Performance on the GMAT is a good indicator of success in the program. While we do not have a minimum GMAT score, we look for strong quantitative ability as evidenced in the mathematical portion of the GMAT. Most of our students score in the 70th percentile or above on their total score, a good measure of the strength of your peers.
Applicants who hold an academic doctorate, juris doctorate, or medical doctorate will automatically be exempt from having to submit GMAT/GRE scores (must be equivalent to a U.S. Doctoral degree from an accredited university). Applicants to the program MAY be considered for a waiver of the GMAT/GRE requirement if one of the two following conditions are met: 10 years of full-time professional experience OR a master's degree combined with a minimum of 6 years of full-time professional experience. The nature of the professional experience, previous academic record, and other professional distinctions will all be considered in the review process and not all applicants will qualify for a test exemption. Waiver applicants must submit all application requirements except GMAT/GRE scores by completing an application through the Online Application System. When waiver applicants arrive at the Supplemental Information section of the application, indicate the request for a GMAT/GRE waiver review in the Additional Information field. Applicants must select an application term in the Program Information section of the application. If the desired start term is not yet available, select the next upcoming term from the options and indicate the intended start term in the Additional Information field of the Supplemental Information section. The application start term can be changed upon request. The GMAT/GRE waiver request will be reviewed by the MBA Admissions Committee.
Prerequisites are not required in order to be admitted to the program. The program's prerequisites: Statistics (ECO 401), Financial Accounting (GBUS 401) Principles of Economics (ECO 001), and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent. The prerequisites must be completed prior to specific core course work. Students can begin regular FLEX MBA course work and complete prerequisite course work simultaneously.
Lehigh offers the prerequisite courses online, a convenience of which most students take advantage. Principles of Economics and Statistics may be taken at another university upon submission and approval of a course syllabus. Financial Accounting may be taken at another university; however, students must successfully pass the Flex MBA program’s accounting proficiency test in order to complete the prerequisite.
An interview is recommended. Please contact Mary Theresa Taglang, Director of Recruitment and Admissions at (610) 758-4450 to schedule an interview.
A minimum of two years of professional work experience is required. The average work experience of our student body is six years. Professional work experience adds to a competitive application and to your classroom experience.
Each applicant presents a unique skill set for consideration. Your application is carefully evaluated on your academic abilities, motivation, and maturity to complete graduate studies successfully. Evaluated areas also include past academic performance, leadership skills, accomplishments, and contribution to the learning environment.
The Graduate Programs Office Office is happy to schedule an individual appointment with you to discuss your credentials and your goals, and to discuss with you the opportunities available to you as a Lehigh Flex MBA student. Any prior graduate business course work will be evaluated for the waiver of FLEX MBA prerequisites (accounting, statistics, and principles of economics). FLEX MBA core courses will not be waived due to their integrated nature. Direct course transfer towards elective course work will be evaluated on a case by case basis. The request to transfer will be evaluated by the FLEX MBA Program Director, appropriate Department Chair, Graduate Associate Dean of the College, and the University Registrar. Students must submit an official transcript, course description, course syllabus, and transfer petition. The courses may not be from an earned degree and must be graduate level course work completed within four years of the first enrollment in the Lehigh FLEX MBA. The minimum grade for transfer courses is "B" and the maximum number of hours permitted to transfer is six.
