Details about Courses, Curriculum, and Pacing
The Flex MBA is built to fit your life, and that starts with how the program is structured. Explore the sections below to see the courses you'll take, how the curriculum comes together, and how you can pace your degree to match your schedule.
Before classes begin, incoming FLEX MBA students attend a mandatory orientation to help ease the transition into graduate business school. You'll work through a collaborative case study that introduces the kind of complex, cross-functional issues you'll tackle throughout the program, while getting to know your new cohort. Orientation dates are included in your admission materials if you're offered a spot in the program.
The FLEX MBA is built for professionals from a wide range of academic backgrounds, so the program requires a working foundation in financial accounting, statistics, and microeconomics before you take courses that build on them. If you need to fulfill one or more of these, there's more than one way to satisfy each:
- Financial accounting: Take GBUS 401 (Financial Reporting for Managers), pass a proficiency exam through the College of Business, or hold an accounting degree or active CPA license.
- Statistics: Complete a statistics course within the last 5 years with a B or better, pass a proficiency exam, or take an approved undergraduate statistics course.
- Microeconomics: Complete an undergraduate microeconomics course with a C or better, or take an approved course.
Your academic advisor will sequence your coursework to make sure any corequisites are completed before you enroll in graduate courses that depend on them, so you can build a strong foundation without losing momentum toward your degree.
