Capital Investment Risk Analysis - Data Analytics for Decision Makers

This interactive case-driven session explores the simple and more complex ways that Excel can assist the financial analyst and manager in making more informed decisions. While the session centers on the development of a DCF analysis for a new product investment, sensitivity analysis and scenario analysis are reviewed. Next, an Excel facilitated technique called “data tables” will be introduced and leads to the application of Monte Carlo Simulation complete with an interactive Excel-based MCS model.



Building Brand Equity - Developing the Brand Architecture from Positioning to NPD

This mini-class is designed to enable the marketing professional to apply best practices to crafting the company brand’s essence and resulting brand positioning statement. Participants are exposed to several unique ways to implement the traditional tools of the trade ranging from a new look at SWOT Analysis with an eye toward identifying Must-Win-Marketing-Battles for building brand equity; to a complimentary model to the BCG Growth-Share Matrix called the Brand Activation Matrix; to a more disciplined approach for building the brand architecture. Additionally, we explore strategies for extending the brand in new product development.

To B Corp or Not to B Corp: Contemplating the Role of Business in Society

Events and issues of the year 2020 - social unrest, climate change, racial injustice and wealth inequality – have brought to the forefront an ongoing debate about the role(s) that businesses should or should not play in society. We will engage in this timely and somewhat controversial discourse regarding corporate social responsibility as we examine a recent shift, referred to by some as a ‘movement’, from shareholder primacy to stakeholder capitalism. We will contemplate whether or not businesses can, in fact, “do well by doing good”.

What is Strategy?

What better way to explain MBA education than through illustration. The origins of this word lie in ancient Greece. Today, strategy is the most frequently spoken word in the language of business because of its ties to leadership and change. We make strategy come alive during our short time together in a fast-moving interactive experience that will quickly consume a full hour of discussion. Specifically, we will dissect and talk to a number of crossroad moments driven by situations that challenge decision-making from a risk-return perspective.
