What is the sports analytics minor?

The sports analytics minor offers a rigorous, business-oriented curriculum designed to develop students’ ability to conduct analysis that can inform decision-making in today’s data-driven sport industry. This program prepares you to drive evidence-based decision-making and create measurable impact for sports organizations.

Program Requirements and Courses

The program is open to undergraduate students within the College of Business or associated intercollegiate programs (IBE, IBH and CSB). This minor will consist of 12 credits, including the following three courses:

Required courses:

  • MGT 386: Sports Business Management (3)
  • BUAN 304: Sports Analytics (3)*
  • BUAN 344: Sports Analytics Capstone (3)*

Plus one of the following:

  • BUAN 346: Python Applications for Business (3)
  • BUAN 348: Predictive Analytics in Business (3)
  • BUAN 352: Business Analytics and Modelling (3)

*BUAN 304 and BUAN 344 are new courses which will first be offered during the 2027-2028 academic year.
