Overview
For the past three decades, Lehigh University students have had the incredible opportunity to participate in an exceptional global marketing program situated in the heart of Leuven, Belgium. Leuven is not only home to the prestigious Katholic University Leuven, founded back in 1425, but it's also a vibrant hub for over 50,000 international students. This cultural diversity and the city's historical significance make it an ideal setting for the study of global marketing.
Location
Belgium's strategic location in Europe, with easy access by train to neighboring countries like France, Germany, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands, enhances the program's appeal. Moreover, Belgium's pivotal role in shaping modern Europe, both politically and economically, adds depth to the learning experience. The program's proximity to Brussels, the capital of the expanding European Union, provides students with a unique chance to gain firsthand insights from European Parliament members. Additionally, it offers access to the rich artistic and cultural offerings of one of Europe's major capitals.
Program Details
The experiential program spans one month at the end of the spring semester and includes two classes, totaling six credits. These classes are designed to immerse students in many applied marketing experiences. Activities include conducting qualitative marketing research in Belgium, visiting iconic Belgian businesses such as AB InBev, renowned for its Stella Artois brewery, and exploring the world of chocolate confectionery. Students can also look forward to a fashion sustainability tour in Antwerp, coupled with a visit to Antwerp's renowned diamond district. The program incorporates guest speakers, visits to the European Parliament, engaging case studies, and opportunities for presentations.
The Lehigh in Belgium program has found a welcoming home at the Irish College in Leuven. This historical venue, nestled in the heart of Leuven, is renowned for its management of high-quality educational and training programs for higher education institutions, professional bodies, and public sector organizations. The Irish College is also known for its contribution to cultural and artistic events related to Ireland.
