Program Overview

The Lehigh Executive MBA (EMBA) program is not an open enrollment program. The Lehigh EMBA is available as a customized Executive MBA program in partnership with interested companies. The Lehigh EMBA is designed to cultivate already seasoned business leaders with greater strategic vision, more global and societal perspectives, enhanced innovativeness and a sincere commitment to the greater good in the Data Age. EMBA students will develop a better understanding of their strengths and passions and will challenge them to consistently think critically about ways to transition organizations for success in today’s dynamic, ever changing global environment. While students will learn the fundamentals in all business disciplines and their integrations with data driven decision making, they will also learn how to diagnose and solve complex business problems in dynamic global and societal settings in their quest for driving sustainable value creation.

Program Format

The program takes 16 months in time to completion. Course work is delivered in person during one weekend per month, complemented by online preparation and summary discussion before the weekend meetings. With this program format, students are provided with a steadfast pace to advance in the program and ample time to prepare before the class and to review after the class.

Curriculum

The overall theme of the EMBA program is Transformation of Organizations in the Data Age. In the Data Age, only those organizations that adapt to the data revolution will succeed. Future business leaders must be at the cutting edge of the Data Age and understand how to data transfer their organizations. The program’s curriculum includes 16 courses (48 credits) in total - divided into 5 modules: Business Essentials in the Data Age, Strategic Management and Leadership, Global and Societal Perspectives, Elective Module, and Experiential Learning Module. Students begin with a required module where they receive a fundamental grounding in every business discipline that is centered on data driven decision making. The class content is relevant in both theory and practice as students delve into high-level modules with emphasis on strategic management, leadership and digital transformation with global and societal perspectives. Students wrestle with societal shifts that are transforming our world and have a choice to choose a class in the module on global perspectives. Students may further tailor the program based on their own professional goals and interests by choosing three elective courses. The EMBA program journey is completed with a capstone project and an experiential learning immersion trip.

Module 3: Global and Societal Perspectives

Curriculum Modules

Module 1

Business Essentials in Data Age This module consists of 6 courses that teach students the foundational knowledge for better data driven decision making in each business discipline (accounting, economics, finance, management, marketing, and operations/ management/supply chain management).

Module 2

Strategic Management and Leadership This module consists of 3 courses on strategic management and leadership. The module equips the students with the tools for devising business strategies and leading organizations through strategic data transformation.

Module 3

Global and Societal Perspectives This module consists of 2 courses on global and societal perspectives. Having learned foundational courses and strategic management and leadership, students now turn to a focus on how businesses need to adapt to the major shifts in society and the resulting business landscape. Included are globalization, big data, artificial intelligence, augmented reality, block chain, climate change, changing demographics, social distancing, and the sharing economy

Module 4

Elective Module This module consists of 3 customized courses based on the student’s diverse interests and goals. This elective module is designed to develop specialized knowledge and skills of students giving them the ability to draw upon knowledge from disparate fields and integrate that multi- sourced knowledge to develop far-sighted strategies for transformation of organizations.

Module 5

Experiential Learning Module This module consists of two courses. The first course is the capstone project. Students are expected to identify a real-world project (from their own company and apply the knowledge learned in the program to recommend solutions. The second course is a global immersion experiential learning trip. Students learn from interacting with other industry executives, functional area experts and/or community leaders from around the world.

Company Employee Admission Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • A minimum of six years of full-time work experience
  • Demonstrated potential for success at senior management levels
  • Demonstrated ability and motivation to complete a rigorous and intensive course of study while employed
  • For international students, demonstrated proficiency in English through standard tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo is required.
  • Three recommendation letters
  • Candidate essays
  • Interview required
