
Dean of the Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy, Carnegie Mellon
A faculty member at Carnegie Mellon since 1988, Dean Ramayya Krishnan was appointed dean of the Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy in 2009.
During his years at Carnegie Mellon, he has led the development of a number of award-winning educational programs, contributed to growing and governing multiple university-wide initiatives, and established four research centers that have attracted more than $100 million in extra funding to the university.
He is currently faculty director of the Block Center for Technology and Society, a university-wide center examining the societal consequences of technological change.
Dean Krishnan’s education spans engineering, management, information systems, operations research and data analytics. He is an expert in data and decision analytics and digital transformation.
He was appointed chair of the Department of Defense’s Responsible Artificial Intelligence academic council in 2023.
He has chaired the AI Futures Committee of the National AI Advisory Committee to the President and the White House Office of AI Initiatives.
He has also directed the cooperative research center with the National Institute of Standards and Technology on AI measurement science and evaluation.
