David Peng’s research interests are in operations and supply chain strategy, technology management, data analytics and artificial intelligence applications in services and manufacturing operations, and healthcare operations management. Much of his research centers around how technology enables strategy and processes in manufacturing and service operations. Professor Peng’s research has appeared in Manufacturing and Service Operations Management, the Journal of Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, Decision Sciences, and the Journal of Supply Chain Management, among others.
His research has been recognized by the Academy of Management Operations and Supply Chain Management division and Decision Science Institute. He has received research awards from the University of Houston, and a research fellowship from the University of Minnesota. The Association for Supply Chain Management has funded Professor Peng’s research on healthcare supply chain management.
Professor Peng is a department editor at the Journal of Operations Management, senior editor at Production and Operations Management, and associate editor at the Decision Sciences Journal and Journal of Supply Chain Management. He has received several editorial awards, including the Journal of Operations Management Best Associate Editor Award, Production and Operations Management Society Best Reviewer Award, etc.
Before his academic career, Professor Peng worked as a procurement manager.
