What to Expect in the MIM Program
Explore the sections below to learn more about prerequisites, orientation, and professional development aspects of the program.
No more than 1 year of professional work experience is allowed for admission and should be reflected in your resume or CV at the time of application. Applicants will not be considered for admission if their undergraduate degree is in business.
Before classes begin, incoming MIM students attend a mandatory orientation to help ease the transition into graduate business school. You'll work through a collaborative case study that introduces the kind of complex, cross-functional issues you'll tackle throughout the program, while getting to know your new cohort. Orientation dates are included in your admission materials if you're offered a spot in the program.
Two distinctive co-curricular tracks—Career Readiness and AI Readiness—complement the program by building professional skills and technological fluency from day one. This structure reflects direct employer feedback emphasizing the need for strong analytical capability, AI adaptability, and effective communication.
Built-In Professional Development and Career Support
Career development at Lehigh is included in your degree as a co-curriculum, meaning it runs alongside your coursework and does not require separate enrollment.
Through the NextYOU program, MIM students receive structured coaching, job-search strategy support, and access to Lehigh's professional network throughout the degree program and beyond.
The MS in Management courses are taught by Lehigh Business faculty members with deep expertise in their disciplines and a commitment to applied, relevant instruction. With a rotating roster each semester, students engage with a variety of professors across the core curriculum and elective offerings.

Optional Summer Internship
Lehigh University’s MIM can be completed in 9 months, from September through May. Students who want to gain U.S. industry experience, explore a career pivot, or strengthen their job prospects can instead choose an extension that includes time for a summer internship.
While an internship is not required, the extended track gives students the flexibility to gain practical experience before entering the workforce. Students can choose the MIM completion timeline that best aligns with their career goals.
The decision to extend the degree must be made when the student initially enrolls in the program (fall semester). Once a student selects the extended option, this decision cannot be reversed.
Course sequencing
- The extension track moves ECO 448 Business Economics (3 credits) to the additional fall semester. Because the full-time MIM program bills by credit, a portion of the initial fall semester tuition will be applied to the additional fall semester.
While the Lehigh University full-time MIM program will support students searching for internships, please note that internships are not guaranteed, and the onus is on the student to secure an internship. Internships cannot count towards any concentration.
Before you accept an offer, all internships must be approved by the program director and/or department chairs to determine if the experience meets internship guidelines and aligns with career preparation goals.
Students who choose the extension track can expect to graduate the following December.
