BETHLEHEM, PA – December 2020 – Reading Hospital Tower Health has selected Lehigh University FLEX MBA candidate, Yamil Sanchez Rivera Ed.D, to join their Board of Trustees. Dr. Sanchez joins the Board with Latrice Mumin, Ed.D., MBA.
"Becoming a Board of Trustee member for Reading Hospital seemed like a natural progression for me. I've been serving on their Community Connection Project committee for the last three years. I have also chaired their Community Service Provider subcommittee," said Dr. Sanchez.
"Reading Hospital is fortunate to have Dr. Mumin and Dr. Sanchez join our Board of Trustees," said William M. Jennings, Reading Hospital President and CEO. "Their dedication to the community and the important role they play as educators will help position our institution for continued success for years to come."
"All of us at Lehigh University are excited about this news and we congratulate Dr. Sanchez on his appointment to the Reading Hospital Trustee Board. The experiences that Dr. Sanchez brings to our MBA classroom are unique. Now, with his selection to the Reading Hospital Board of Trustees, Dr. Sanchez has new, additional leadership perspectives to offer; perspectives that his fellow MBA student colleagues will benefit from," said Oliver Yao, Associate Dean for Graduate Programs.
Dr. Sanchez is an educator and life-long learner with over 25 years of experience working with schools and nonprofits. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Villanova University, a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Kutztown University, and earned his Doctorate in Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Lehigh University. Dr. Sanchez has served as a teacher and administrator of youth and family services for nonprofits in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New York. Currently, Dr. Sanchez serves as the Chief Administrative Officer with the Reading School District.
Dr. Sanchez's work in nonprofit youth related development programs, in the United Way system, and with public school systems has provided great insight in working as part of a collective to help children and families experience success at home, in the community, and in school. "I am most fulfilled when I am out there serving others. Anything that helps young people makes me happy", says Dr. Sanchez.
Dr. Sanchez joined Lehigh University's MBA program in spring 2020. "Reading Hospital is getting a much higher quality board member out of me since I'm pursuing my MBA education," says Dr. Sanchez. He was recently selected for the Global Social Impact Fellowship, a highly self-selected cohort of Lehigh students focused on addressing sustainable development challenges in low-income countries.
