Dr. Chen received her Ph.D. in Decision Sciences and MIS from Drexel University, her master’s degree in Mathematics from Drexel University, and her B.S. degree in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics from Beijing Forestry University. Her research and teaching interests are mathematical modeling, machine learning and optimization algorithms. She has presented her research at conferences including INFORMS, SIAM and IEEE International Conference on Data Mining.
Before joining Lehigh University, Dr. Chen had 7-year of teaching experience at both the undergraduate and graduate level, teaching topics ranging from mathematics, management information systems to business analytics. She has won multiple teaching awards in Drexel University including Dr. John J. Clark, Dr. Margaret T. Clark Outstanding PhD Instructor Award 2020, TA Excellence Award Highly Commended College/School Finalist 2020, and TA Excellence Award 2021.
Dr. Chen had working experience in several prominent Chinese firms including Bank of China, China Galaxy Securities, and the Bureau of Statistics. She likes extending knowledge from real applications to research and teaching.
